Philippines had been swept out by the typhoon ondoy last Saturday. It took only for about 5 hours of rain to flood the whole metro manila and other areas around it. It was a disastrous event! Houses were rampaged! Lives had been taken! Millions of pesos worth of houses, furnitures etc were wasted and taken from the citizens by the roaring floods! I didn't exactly expect it also. Well, I will narrate my story to you!

~ Last saturday, i woke up around 11am. I summarized and organized my plans for that day. I was about to do my school work that day but instead, i watched liar game and love hina to entertain myself before doing those stuff. Anyway, it was around 2-3pm. My television suddenly turned off. We lost electricity! I went downstairs to check the status because i don't really have any idea what's going on. I didn't know that there's a typhoon for that day. I ran and suddenly noticed that everyone's outside the house. I opened our main door and saw the flood on the roads. The streets were like roaring rivers. I didn't step outstide because our porch was full of floodwater. Actually, i didn't believe my eyes! The dirty flood water entered the garage and our porch. It can almost enter the 1st floor. I panicked a bit. I haven't experienced this tragic even before. We were in the high outskirts of manila and floods are almost impossible. I asked myself, "How could it be possible?~ This flood reached my freakin house!". I ran upstairs up to the roofdeck and looked. I saw my neighbor's house down the hill. Their 1st floor was full of floodwater. I can't even see the facade of the 1st floor. I can only see the 2nd floor of the house. Some of my neighbors were on the roof and they were waving at us. Some laughed a bit. Some shouted. Some panicked! Some cried. There's a river nearby our house. There are some squatters who live beside the river. It was a tragic scene. I can only see the roof of their houses. The flood has swept their houses.

Roofs were flowing with the flood water. Furnitures were on the roads. Cars flowed with the current. The walls of the houses were destroyed. I ran downstairs. I suddenly shouted and panicked. I lifted the radio, its speakers and the pile of Cds and placed them on the tables and chairs. Luckily, our chairs are made of narra wood. We lifted first the electronics. Foods were taken upstairs. Men lifted the refrigerators. I placed some things on high places where the floodwater can't reach them. Floodwater entered the house. We were forced to move fast. Adrenaline rush had taken over us. The floodwater in the house rose until it reached our knees. the flood water gave out an ugly smell but it didn't matter.

We rested upstairs and gathered up on my room. We had dinner and ate the last supply of food. We talked about the worst case scenario that might happen. We were really afraid because the floodwater might reach the 2nd floor of the houses and the possibility that we need to climb up to the roof and stay there. We also laughed about it. We talked about our if and then. For example, my brother said that if the floodwater almost reached the 2nd floor, he will run up to the roof deck and send his final message to his friends like "Goodbye! I love you all!" and confess to his loved ones thru text messages of course. ) I didn't sleep much that night. I was so worried about the outcome of this event. I suddenly packed up some important documents like passports, passbooks and some stuff that i can sell to fully revive after the event. Some stayed on my room and were worried about tomorrow.

I woke up the next day. I was surprised because the sun's up above! it was so sunny. And still, we don't have any electricity. The floors of the house were filled with mud. We went outside and checked the damages. Cars were full of floodwater because some flowed with the floodwater. Walls were brought down. Furnitures were placed outside the house.

We went to the bridge. It was full of trash. Luckily, the bridge didn't give up. Everything was so distorted.

~ This is my experience

Please be reminded that there were some people who experienced worse than my experience. Some lost their homes and their living. Some lost their loved ones. It was a painful sight.
